Environmental performance of the connector includes
heat resistance, wet resistance, salt spray resistance, vibration and shock
resistance, etc.

Heat resistance
The highest working temperature is 200 ℃ for current
connector (Except a few special connector), and minimum temperature was 65 ℃.
Since the work of the connector, the
current generates heat at the contact point, leading to the temperature rise,
it is generally considered to be equal to the ambient temperature of the
operating temperature plus the junction temperature.
In some specification clearly defines the
connector rated operating current allowable maximum liters.

Wet resistance
Intrusion of moisture will affect the
connector insulation properties, and corrosion of metal parts.
Damp heat test condition is the relative
humidity of 90% to 95% (based on product specification, up to 98%), the
temperature of + 40 ± 20 ℃, test time by product regulations. Minimum of 96 hours

Salt spray resistance
When the connector are work in an
environment containing moisture and salt, the metal structure and the contact
surface may produce galvanic corrosion, then affect the physical and electrical
performance of the connectors.
To evaluate the tolerance of the electrical
connector of this environment, we have the salt spray test.
The connector which is suspended in the
test chamber at a controlled temperature, ejecting with a predetermined
concentration of sodium chloride solution, forming a salt fog atmosphere, the
exposure time is based on product specification, at least for 48 hours.

Vibration and shock resistance
Vibration and shock resistance are
important properties of the electrical connector.
Especially important in a particular
application environment, such as aviation and aerospace, rail and road
transport.
It is an important indicator in electrical
testing. In the relevant test methods are clearly defined.
Impulse testing shall be provided
that the peak acceleration, duration and impact pulse waveform, and electrical
discontinuity of time.
